#Dadspotting - School of Rock , Aurora Winter Festival and Raptors Kids Camps - Culture Kings
SCHOOL OF ROCK IS AWESOME
I have to admit, I haven’t taken my kids to anything live recently.
We’ve been stuck in this Fall/Winter limbo while there are so many great things happening around us.
The Mirvish team has had some great success in building new audiences and ‘The School of Rock; is a great example of this. A wonderful experience for my 7 and 10 yr olds.
And I know I shouldn’t care about this, but the colour blind casting in the play made me personally very happy.
Quick Tips : Tell your kids to watch these kids closely, because they ALL PLAY THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS!!! Yes, 7 to 10 yr old rock stars and they are amazing.
AND : it’s just over 2 hrs , so if your kid doesn’t sit through a movie, it might be tough. Bonus is there is an intermission.
AND : There is a study guide . HERE - It’s really cool.
Aurora Winter Festival
For the first time ever, the Aurora Winter Festival will bring its magical holiday moments to Toronto with an interactive festival filled with mystical characters, enchanted light displays, and activities for adults and kids alike.
The kids loved the entire set up but be warned, you have to dress warm as Lake Ontario is not as forgiving with the wind gusts and you will feel it big time. Also, try to go early in the evening to avoid line ups oh and you have to pay for parking :(
Other than that, it is great for the family to enjoy
RAPTORS KIDS CAMPS
And finally, last year we gave our 12 yr old daughter as a gift a special skills building session being held by The Raptors Basketball Academy.
The day was filled with activities that ranged between drills with coaches and staff, to surprises and prizes. It also gave her a shot to play on the Raptors court which was pretty awesome. There are a few camps you can check out year round, and some are daily vs weekly. The picture below will take you to the link.
