In the presence of, Chelsea Clinton
Indigo Books, Toronto, Canada 2018
At first glance, observing Chelsea Clinton from a distance is a little tough. She is very much the centre of attention in a room designed and curated to promote her new book She Persisted Around the World
She has a natural warmth that is infectious, but she's also guarded and prepared to answer to some tough questions wrapped up in little hints.
Take for example the 6 yr old kid who confidently asked her, "Will you run for President one day?".
Without missing a beat, Chelsea dove into making the moment more about the child and empowerment than about her, and that is what makes her so unique.
The book is a chronicle of short stories about female empowerment, and while it first glance it may seem a little simple, the brilliance about it is that it's also a great way to introduce your children to ideas and concepts that they will eventually hear about in school and it won't seem so strange to them. It will also spark the type of curiosity we can use more of when kids are researching history online.
I stole a moment with her while she waited for a set change. In the picture you will see the book available here and at Indigo Stores as well, as well you will see her holding a new Canadian $10 bill. More about that in part 2 of this story.
